Longines Restoration - A Fallschirmjäger's Golden Gift
This time I restore a beautiful, and somewhat weirdly designed, Flagship watch by Longines. The watch has recently spent several years trapped behind a chest freezer but was eventually rediscovered by an old British Army colleague of mine, Sandy Carrick-Buchanan.

Beautiful work as always Richard 👍
www.majorwatches.co.uk/
pretty poor handling of a lovely watch no cots is just the start sorry finger acid kills watchs
I love seeing someone wearing a Vostok while working on a Rolex. You and I are very alike.
So why all the hate? It's a good watch and a reasonable price! Maybe Invicta should invest a little in a few better parts and raise the price to cover the improvement.
Acabo de suscribirme, pero si esta noche los Elfos no me dejan un Rolex en la almohada, mañana mismo me desuscribo. Bye.
Just got a speedy homage w/ st19 movement. My start stop pusher is too long, have to reattach column wheel lever if I push too hard. Will need to grind some off eventually.
Nice one if case is good pass water leak then how water get in watch
Nice work, good video.
I bought a used 1967 no-date Submariner in 1990😂. I traded it in on a new Submariner in 2002. If I had not gotten a good deal on my first, which turned out to be a quite desirable rare model no matter how skinned up it was, I would not have been able to afford the second. There has been a Submariner on my wrist nearly every day since 1990, only coming off for cleaning or service, or when I was in the hospital myself. My Submariner BELONGS on my wrist.
Не нашёл видео, в котором описывается история этих часов 🥴
My mother-in-law's beloved, 18k gold lady president had a stretched bracelet. It was super expensive to have the stretched bracelet repaired in the U.S., so we flew to Hong Kong with a bag of Rolex watches requiring service. The savings in cost of repairs paid for the trip.
I purchased my Rolex in 2013, and have worn it every day since. I also play the drums, and my bracelet has stretched, I literally have beaten the shit out of the watch, and it runs great!
Looks like a new one.
It took a licking, but it is still ticking. ⌚
If he's a watchmaker, I'm master of the universe.
What werent you happy with? The stretch that remained?
Your ace❤️🤍💙 subscribed ❤️🤍💙🇬🇧
Ive got a Sea King. After trying for six months to locate one ive bought and fitted a genuine Bulova stainless steel bracelet. Its now the heaviest watch ive ever owned, and makes other watches feel like toys! 😂
Amazing video, thank you Richard. I have a very similar watch and I would like to replace the top right push button (current one is damaged). Do you have any videos for this please? Just hoping not to difficult based on what you demonstrated on your video. Thanks
Hello! One questions does this movement change the date automatically at 00:00 or does it take a couple of hours to jump and change the number. Thank you!
Hi... The date will start to move at around 23.40 and click into place between 23.58 and 00.02 provided that the movement is correctly calibrated. Hope this is helpful. Richard
Just wondering you only tested at 50meters what about 300meters or a. I mistaken
I wonder how long it had been since the watch was drenched to when it was repaired by Richard!
If it works it works and looks good while working at a very good price, what's not to like.
Funny how the world ticks got the same watch today in a joblot same condition but with red hands 👍🏽🇬🇧
This 100% looks more tedious than a movement service
You didnt show how to put the spring back on the case ?????????
Beautiful!!!

Magnífico y perfecto trabajo !!! 👌
Nice work Richard! I'm looking to buy the tool to remove the links and the other to asamble it. I ve seen some on ebay and aliexpress and diferent prices, if someone who has more experience can recommend me it would be good know. I would appreciate. Thanks in advance
It’s never happened to me before but, my ultrasonic cleaner caused the outer coil retention guard on the balance to vibrate out. I managed to get it back in but it just fell out again. I was lucky to obtain a replacement cockplate but I won’t put future balances through the ultrasonic cleaner again. Beware!
Sounds like your working in a restaurant lol
Really love that you took on a Cylinder escapement and this piece is full of fascination for me! Wonderful results! Thanks for uploading Richard! ❤
Interesting. What bits needed to be replaced?
Hows your little ballerina?
Watch was $500 in 1975. Gold was $1500
Hopefully they bought ‘his n hers’ Major watches from you to say Thankyou. (Although knowing sisters she’d expect them free!)
You sound like Aaron Terence Hughes.
Richard. I'm sorry for being so picky but you say you're a watchmaker. However, I've never seen any of these video's where there's any watchmaking being done. You should class yourself as a watch restorer, cleaner or repairer. Sorry.
Made in CCCP❤
Thank you for your service, great restoration
Great review. Nothing wrong with smelling the box 😂
great video, 😉looks like you lost all the numbers on the bottom chronograph dial perhaps it's the way the light was hitting the dial. 😱 also, i kept hearing a loud ticking noise like a really loud clock or a super loud quartz watch in the background, perhaps it's just me. 🙄the kind of ticking that an old world 💣would make.🤭😂
Missouri is such a wonderful place to visit, great find!
i enjoyed your video sir
Thank you for the video. I am currently having my Rolex Date overhauled for the second time. My wife bought it for me in 1977.
This reminds me of the old WW2 poem called ‘Naming of Parts’ … ruclips.net/video/mD4cH2uowrw/видео.htmlsi=UFd-alPViBxf0gi0
I came from the classic car world before entering watchmaking so maybe I approach things a bit differently but for rusty movements like this, after I remove the calendar disk I'd soak the entire movement in evaporust 24-48 hours before even attempting disassembly. It is not acidic like vinegar and will not harm the rhodium plating, which gives the best possible chance of disassembly without broken screws or other parts. I wish I could convey this to all professional watchmakers.
Repair perfectly
