Longines Restoration - A Fallschirmjäger's Golden Gift
This time I restore a beautiful, and somewhat weirdly designed, Flagship watch by Longines. The watch has recently spent several years trapped behind a chest freezer but was eventually rediscovered by an old British Army colleague of mine, Sandy Carrick-Buchanan.

Your link organization tray is showing the order placement of small to large written in Japanese Kanji characters (Chisai > Oki). Did you write that in Japanese, or it it simply a Japanese product purchased? I just found that detail interesting as I lived in Japan.
Hi Richard. I inherited a Kundo "Electrochron" clock from my late mother. It is not the 'real' thing, as it is powered by an electric motor (1.5 V) that winds the mainspring. So, no winding key. It stopped running many decades ago. The torsion spring is fine. I cleaned and oiled the pivots as good as possible without taking the clock apart. (I just don't have the nerve) Now it seems to run okay. It has been ticking away for 24 hours. Though, it loses 8 min a day. I have no idea how many turns on the adjusting wheel it takes to make it run 1 min faster per 24 h. Is it one 360° for 1 minute?
my dude, you forgot the piezo spring :3
Just love that watch, thanks for saving it 👍🫶
Hello, how much do you charge for a bracelet restoration like this?
Glad to see your up and in full swing again, I was enjoying your video there, then it came to an end 😂😂, looks like I will just have to wait until, fish room part 2, anyway great to see you again , Colin 🏴
Hola. No sé porque te obstinas tanto, comparándolo con un rolex. Sabes muy bien que es un reloj de distinta concepción. O solo es criticar a un producto japonés? Saludos.
How FUCKING cheap is it to make those springs in a rustable steel rather than a high chromium steel!?!? That shit drives me up the wall!! It would literally cost them less than a dollar per watch to make that change - high chromium steel isn’that expensive, Especially for a few slivers that it takes to make those springs. They’re counting on the 99 percent of assholes who buy a dive watch and never get jt wet. So STUPID!!!
Here in Australia our remaing watch.makers.are.disapearing at.a.raite of knotts as most of.them.have retired and have no one to take.thier place sadly. Please.if you can afford it please take on an apprentice so that he or.she may carry on the trade in the future etc.
Don't think I'd have your patience. well done
Ya man’s got a $90k watch
Good quality job
Great job Richard! Was that a broken mainspring?
Top video Richard, I have the very watch in need of a new movement. Mine is a Royal navy dated 89. What do you charge to replace the movement?
Really happy watching your videos thx
I really like your watch I wish to get one someday
Wonderful and meticulous work. Perhaps the hands are not supposed to be yellow but they're aesthetic like that on a vintage
Awsome
Well done as usual, Richard. I am appalled by the careless, and thoughtless treatment this Rolex Presidential endured. Nevertheless, you managed to save its very existence. I am just so flummoxed at how this timepiece was treated. I hope you included an idiot fee when you invoiced this commission. Cheers!
😱😱😱😱😱
I noticed that this watch has the "Mercedes" hands and the second hand is not the "sword" type. I was under the impression that the letter hand model was the more rare version that is limited to 1200 units?
do you have drawings of the tools you're using?
Detail and always excellent work, thanks share with us.
Very impressive how such complex process is squeezed into less than a minute video! I noticed you completely rely on ultrasonic bath instead of washing machine, unlike most watchmakers. Usually they use ultrasound only for case/bracelet. Interesting approach, would appreciate if you drop a few lines what do you think about it.
Hi... Thank you... And sure. I have developed my own cleaning regime using the ultrasonic cleaner that gives superb results without swirling the nicely finished parts together at a high rotational speed with the attendant risk to that finish. I see no compelling reason then for a rotary cleaner other than I think they look cool on RUclips videos and I reserve the right to acquire one for this reason alone! Hope this is helpful. Richard
ما هيى الساعه التي في يدك
يوجد عندي سايكو 5 هل تعمل لها صيانه واكون لك من الشاكرين انت في اي بلد انا في لبنان
Camera work is exceptional now, I am really enjoying your content.
Now just retrofit an incabloc (shock proof jewel setting on the balance staffs top & bottom pivots), do some traditional finishing techniques, throw it in a nice case with a nice strap and flex on everyone that will never be able to own one because you have 1 of 1! (Engraved on the movement) 😂😂 I wonder if it would be a good business strategy.. pocket watch conversions are no good because they arent shockproof and break the balance pivots extremely easily.. If you could successfully retrofit incablocs so they are as strong as modern wrist watches, the vintage/old school movements have a certain vibe/feel that alot of people still find appealing and a market might be there if a rugged product can be provided with that jaw dropping traditional flawlessness we all love to see! Obviously this aint no get rich quick scheme 😂😂 just a watchmakers crazy ideas 😂😂
Beautiful work as always Richard 👍
Good to hear from you! And thank you sir! Richard

pretty poor handling of a lovely watch no cots is just the start sorry finger acid kills watchs
I love seeing someone wearing a Vostok while working on a Rolex. You and I are very alike.
So why all the hate? It's a good watch and a reasonable price! Maybe Invicta should invest a little in a few better parts and raise the price to cover the improvement.
Acabo de suscribirme, pero si esta noche los Elfos no me dejan un Rolex en la almohada, mañana mismo me desuscribo. Bye.
Just got a speedy homage w/ st19 movement. My start stop pusher is too long, have to reattach column wheel lever if I push too hard. Will need to grind some off eventually.
Nice one if case is good pass water leak then how water get in watch
Nice work, good video.
I bought a used 1967 no-date Submariner in 1990😂. I traded it in on a new Submariner in 2002. If I had not gotten a good deal on my first, which turned out to be a quite desirable rare model no matter how skinned up it was, I would not have been able to afford the second. There has been a Submariner on my wrist nearly every day since 1990, only coming off for cleaning or service, or when I was in the hospital myself. My Submariner BELONGS on my wrist.
Не нашёл видео, в котором описывается история этих часов 🥴
My mother-in-law's beloved, 18k gold lady president had a stretched bracelet. It was super expensive to have the stretched bracelet repaired in the U.S., so we flew to Hong Kong with a bag of Rolex watches requiring service. The savings in cost of repairs paid for the trip.
I purchased my Rolex in 2013, and have worn it every day since. I also play the drums, and my bracelet has stretched, I literally have beaten the shit out of the watch, and it runs great!
Looks like a new one.
It took a licking, but it is still ticking. ⌚
If he's a watchmaker, I'm master of the universe.
What werent you happy with? The stretch that remained?
Your ace❤️🤍💙 subscribed ❤️🤍💙🇬🇧
Ive got a Sea King. After trying for six months to locate one ive bought and fitted a genuine Bulova stainless steel bracelet. Its now the heaviest watch ive ever owned, and makes other watches feel like toys! 😂
Amazing video, thank you Richard. I have a very similar watch and I would like to replace the top right push button (current one is damaged). Do you have any videos for this please? Just hoping not to difficult based on what you demonstrated on your video. Thanks
Hello! One questions does this movement change the date automatically at 00:00 or does it take a couple of hours to jump and change the number. Thank you!
Hi... The date will start to move at around 23.40 and click into place between 23.58 and 00.02 provided that the movement is correctly calibrated. Hope this is helpful. Richard
Just wondering you only tested at 50meters what about 300meters or a. I mistaken
